Is this life a simulation? — Sit closer, I’ll explain…

Hi everyone,
As many of you already know, I have started content creation on YouTube. In my latest video, I covered a mind-bending topic that makes me think all the time — is this life a simulation? Are we some NPCs for somebody?
You can check my video here:
Imagine waking up one day to find out that everything you’ve ever known your friends, your family, and even the entire universe is nothing more than a highly sophisticated simulation.
The Simulation Theory suggests that our reality, as we perceive it, could be nothing more than an elaborate illusion created by some advanced intelligence.
What is the Simulation Theory?
The Simulation Theory, popularized by Oxford philosopher Nick Bostrom, argues that at least one of the following statements must be true:
- Human civilization will go extinct before it reaches the technological level capable of creating such a simulation.
- Even if we reach that level, no advanced civilization would be interested in running these types of simulations.
- Or… we are almost certainly living in a simulation right now.
If the third scenario is true, then everything we see and experience our emotions, thoughts, and even the vast cosmos itself could simply be lines of code running on a supercomputer. But how could we even tell if we’re in a simulation?
Is everything lines of codes?
Many scientists and philosophers suggest that we might find hints in the laws of physics. Take the observer effect in quantum mechanics, for example: particles behave differently when observed. This strange behavior is reminiscent of how graphics in a video game render only when you’re looking at them. It’s a way for the system to conserve resources, displaying just what’s needed for the moment.
